Effects of Voltage Interharmonics on Cage Induction Motors

In a power system, the voltage waveform usually contains harmonics and sometimes interharmonics, often defined as components of frequency greater than fundamental component but not its integer multiple. Previous studies have reported minor effect interharmonics on cage induction machine. This paper reveals their extraordinary harmfulness for motors. Namely, may cause high vibration, which can result in machine damage. addition, lead to torque pulsations corresponding natural first elastic mode. Consequently, possible torsional resonance destruction train. this study, results investigations undesirable phenomena due are presented seven motors with rated 3 kW–5.6 MW.
